A funny computer related comic.

Q) I am not receiving incoming calls on my phone. What do I need to check?

A) Check to be sure that the phone has not been forwarded.

On digital (MultiLine) sets, a triangle to the left of the Forward Key will show. On analog (SingleLine) sets, you will hear a "busy" tone indicating that forward-all calls is activated. User should hang up and lift receiver, and press #1, and then hang up and wait about 5 seconds. When the receiver is lifted again, the forward should be canceled and a regular dial tone should be heard.

Check ring volume adjustment to be sure that the ringer has not been turned off. There is a Dial or switch on analog (SingleLine) sets that controls volume. It is on the right side of the Northern Telecom (NorTel) set and at the base of the old NEC sets.

On the NorTel set there are low, medium, and high settings. If the dial is set in-between these three distinct spots, the phone will not ring. On the NEC sets, a setting all the way to the left may make the ring difficult to hear.

On digital (MultiLine) sets, the ring control is the bar at the base of the keypad. Pressing the >>> side while the phone is ringing makes the ring louder. Pressing the >>> side while talking on the phone makes the voice volume louder. The reverse applies to the <<< side.
